Mutharika criticised for failing to attend Gwanda Chakuamba’s Funeral

Malawi President Peter Mutharika has faced criticism over From some quarters for his decision to shun the funeral ceremony of the country’s Veteran politician,Gwanda Chakuamba,who has been laid to rest on Friday,October 28,2016 at his Zuwere Lodge in the area of T/A Mlolo in Nsanje.

The concerned people said although Chakuamba’s funeral was honored with full military respect,it was necessary for Mutharika to be in attendance at the ceremony and no delegating his minister on such occasion.

President Mutharika was on this day been represented by Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda which brought mixed reactions among people.

Among other notables faces that were seen at the ceremony of late Chakuamba at Chinyanje Village includes: former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi, MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, John Tembo, Moses Dossi, Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje Nkhoma,Cabinet Ministers and his best friend,Bazuka Muhango SC.

The Lower Shire valley political giant, Gwanda Chakuamba died on Monday while receiving treatment at Blantyre Adventist Hospital (BAH),after succumbing from chronic diseases such as heart attack among other illnesses.

He died at the age of 82 and has been survived by a wife,Raima,Three children,Four grand children and three great grand children.
