On 27th May 2016, the husband went to the wife’s where roundtable discussions were held before advocates from both sides. The discussions proved futile as they did not help unite the two.

The husband however became desperate. On 31st May 2016 in the morning hours he was found hanging from a tree.

Postmortem conducted at Ekwendeni Mission Hospital indicated that death was due to strangulation.

Meanwhile Mzuzu Police have advised men to share their family issues with their good friends in order to get positive advice. The police say sharing of family problems helps to avoid stress which if poorly managed lead husbands to commit suicide.

“A lot of institutions are available that provide marriage counselling. Churches are one such good institutions and husband should utilise them. Taking away life is not the best solution,” said the Mzuzu Police Public Relations Officer Martin Bwanali.
