Bester Phiri has today cost Mighty Be Forward Wanderers after he conceded silly goals as Mafco FC defeated the Nomads 3-2 at Kamuzu stadium.

The match started on an impressive note as both sides were in search for early goals but it was the Nomads who could have scored first when a 1st minute shot was well saved by Mafco Fc goalminder Frank Kasiyamo.

Three minutes into the game Stain Malata put the Salima based soldiers ahead with a well driven in shot from 26 yards and it was 1 nil to Mafco.

After that goal, the Nomads started pressurising the soldiers and they were awarded a free kick outside the box but Isaac Kaliati missed the target.

On the other end, Chikondi Maloya could have doubled the soldiers’ lead in the 21st minute but he blasted his shot over the bar.

A minute later the Nomads were level after Jafali Chande headed in Mike Kaziputa’s corner kick from the right.

Stain Malata had a chance to put the visitors ahead once again on 30 minutes but his final touch on the ball was disappointing and he missed the target.

Two minutes later Peter Wadabwa had a chance to put the Nomads ahead but he was too shy to beat Mafco’s goalminder as he hit it straight into the path of Kasiyamo. The first half ended in a 1 all draw.

After the break, the Nomads were looking more dangerous on the attack and they could have taken the lead through Isaac Kaliati just two minutes after the restart but he missed from close range.

Four minutes later referee Ishmael Chizinga awarded a free kick to Mafco after Stanley Sanudi fouled Richard Mbulu near the Nomads left corner flag and Zinkholi Ngulube stepped up for the challenge and made no mistake as he converted the resulting free kick.

The Nomads coach Jack Chamangwana responded to that goal by bringing in Jabulani Linje and Khumbo Ng’ambi to replace Amos Bello and Isaac Kaliati.

On 73 minutes, Wadabwa had a chance to score Wanderers’ second goal of the match but his shot passed on the face of the Mafco goalmouth. Four minutes later Khumbo Ng’ambi could also have levelled the scoreline for the Nomads but he was denied by the crossbar.

As the game was going towards the end the Nomads scored again through Boston Kabango who headed in Jabulani Linje’s corner kick on the 85th minute to make it 2 all.

As everyone thought the game was settling for a draw, the soldiers were again awarded a free kick outside the Nomads box and Ngulube’s well driven in free kick was headed in by Richard Mbulu to make it 3-2.

The game ended 3-2 in favour of the soldiers and the result has moved the soldiers to second on the log table  with 11 points.

After the game Wanderers team manager conceded defeat whereas Mafco coach Maloya said he was happy with his team’s performance and thanked God for the three points.
