An angry mob on Monday in Blantyre burnt to death a man for stealing a handbag and two smart phones.

According to information sourced by this publication, the man stole the handbag which contained money amounting to K40,000 from a lady at Chinyonga bus stop.

Further information sourced reveals the suspect was caught after the victim shouted for help from well-wishers.

The mob then agreed to burn the suspect.

Police later came and took the remains of the deceased to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).

The development comes at a time when the country has registered an increase in cases of mob justice.
However, some organizations have spoken tough against mob justice in Malawi arguing that the country has laws which should be respected.
