Construction of Chankhasi Private Primary School Nkhotakota is expected to alleviate challenges that pupils who live in villages around the school were facing.

This was said during a handover ceremony of a block that has been constructed at the school.

According to Director of the school, Andrew Malovu Banda, the school will impart essential knowledge in pupils.

“These are leaders of tomorrow, they will be responsible to develop our local areas and Malawi at large in all aspects, it is then our schools motto to mould these children into responsible citizens,” Banda said.

In her remarks, group village woman Nkhandwe thanked well-wishers from European and American countries for partnering with the community to construct the school.

Chief Nkhandwe said that pupils in her village were facing challenges during the rainy season to cross big rivers and reach Kayadzi and Chamalala full primary schools that are in Kapanga and Chinziri villages respectively in the district.

“My children were failing to cross rivers during rainy season and the coming of this school in this village is something significant and I am really pleased,” Village Woman Nkhandwe said.

She then urged community members to be responsible and warned any community member who will attempt to vandalise the school that they will receive stiff penalties.

Chankhasi Private Primary school is situated at Nkhandwe village, Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.

The school now is operating with standards 1-7 and has 346 learners.

The funding for the newly constructed block and the whole school came from well-wishers from Norway, Great Britain and United States of America.
