Reports say that the DPP supporters railed at the opposition for giving their leader, Peter Mutharika a tough ride and that they are not welcome in the city but the DPP alone.

They reportedly smashed a vehicle that ferried some MCP supporters to the rally at Chibavi ground.

They also beat up some of the supporters who were donning in the colors of the two parties.

However, Malawi24 understands that at this time, the top officials at the rally had been rescued arleady by party supporters.

At the moment, 4 supporters of the MCP and PP are at the Mzuzu Central Hospital after they got hacked by the panga knives the irate attackers used, reports which Malawi24 is yet to independently verify.

The other side of the story has seen police officers been accused of ignoring the attacks by not coming to the scene with haste when called by the attacked supporters.

On the other hand, some reports say that PP supporters was against the rally with the roping in of MCP and Aford in the working relations between the three parties.

The Malawi Police and the DPP are yet to respond to our calls as this post was made.

This comes hot in the heels of what is being dubbed as the unity between the MCP and PP who have recently placed guns on against the Mutharika government accusing it of failing to rule Malawi.
