A 22 year-old man in Chiradzulu on Thursday murdered his wife before killing himself by hanging, Police say.
Police publicist in the district, Sergeant Victoria Chirwa, identified the killer as John Singano and the woman as 18 year-old Gladys Chibisa. 
Chirwa said the incident happened on Thursday night when the couple had a fight over some family issues.
The police spokesperson said during the fight, Singano heavily pushed his wife against a wall and she sustained head injuries.
The woman died on the spot and this shocked the abusive man. He then took a rope which he used to hang himself.
Postmortem results from Chiradzulu hospital show that the man died of suffocation while the wife died due to head injuries.
Singano hailed from Misanjo village in the area of Traditional Authority Kadewere while his wife hailed from Maulana village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpama in the Chiradzulu.
