Malawian youths will soon afford a smile as government says it is working on a legal framework that will help youths to find jobs outside the country.
Minister of labour and manpower development Henry Mussa said government will soon conclude working on the framework.
”Government has directed that there should be a legal framework which will provide labour migrants a chance to work in other countries like Saudi Arabia,” said Mussa.
He added that countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are interested to recruit skilled labourers from Malawi.
Mussa further said that the ministry is working with other ministries such as local government, the ministry of justice and the ministry of foreign affairs in making the final touches on the legal framework.
Most youths in the country prefer to travel to foreign countries to seek greener pastures.
Last year, there were xenophobic attacks in South Africa that led to the deaths of seven people while 213 were people injured.
However, reports show that Malawians are still trekking south to seek greener pastures in the rainbow nation.
Good idea but if the government is mainly focusing on Arab countries like Saudia, Qatar etc then I fear for the lives of these innocent young people who will be tortured to death.
Com on malawi may be we see a change.
Youths are future gems of any family, community and a country as a national assets
They are regarded as real hope of the future generation, but what this country called Malawi, kills them and the entire community.
What is real wealthy to send somebody abroad to work or to be trained as a skilful, talented individual?
Really indeed Malawi Government won’t ever create employment windows for the coming Youths, the same as Dr. Banda used to send many Malawians to work in South African Mines?

this move was started by the previous govt but i remember many pple including the opposition who’re now ruling faulted the move..but some youths benefitted from it, they’re now abroad working..i see nothing wrong with sending pple to work in other countries as it will also ensure security to those going there because they will have proper documents unlike the case with those who go to RSA most of them dont have documents..but the govt should make sure that whosoever goes there should have abank account here in Malawi where asmall percent of their income will be directed; incase some emergencies happen for their own financial safety..
