Leonard Njikho: Was thanked for the gesture.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Mzuzu city Leonard Njikho has bailed out two female inmates who were serving a 9-month sentence at Mzuzu prison.

The convicts were imprisoned for failing to pay a fine of K50,000 after they were found guilty of beating a man at Chiwabvi in the city.

Njikho said that he paid the  money because of the small children the women  had with them at the prison.

According to Njikho, the children were serving a crime that was not committed by them.

“I felt so sad and sorry for the small children and as such I decided to bail out the inmates by paying the fine,” he explained.

The MP however expressed that he was happy that the two were released so that they should enjoy Christmas with their relatives at their homes.

Njikho has since advised people not rush in making decisions that can land them in prison.

  1. This is the worst mp mzuzu has ever had. We will never see real development in mzuzu city with him as mp. Mzuzu city lacks alot of social facilities befitting it a city, among other things mzuzu city lacks, are an international airport, a modern stadium, a district hospital, gud road network and so many other stuff. But i hav never heard of him talking of such things in parliament or other donors who might want to help. He is quite an unactive mp and not development orianted person. Am sure he has even forgotten his manifesto.

Profound cause they bit a man, reasons clearly known to themselves.
This is Gender Based Violence against Men. Why beating the Man than first Dialogue in. If it was another Way round, eish!! Men are Prisons, remand for very Minor Issue.
Was better these Ladies served that other women of same Mindsets gat a Lesson.

  6. That is good move! Infact I would be very happy if I could hear all women are bailed out from prison. These are vulnerable groups and must really be assisted and treated in special way.

    1. This is my opinion. I always think of reasons how women find themselves behind bars. It is mostly emotional acts out of jealousy, poverty, influence and labour pain. They do immediately regret after an action and start crying in remorse. Quite different from men. Think of violence, armed robbery, careless actions including drinking and driving as well as organised crimes.
