Soccer pundits have blamed Malawi national football team coach, Ernest Mtawali over his selection of the squad that lost 2 nil to Tanzania in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday.

Speaking in no-hold barred sports analysis program on state owned Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC) Radio 2, the radio’s sports journalists, Steve Liwewe Banda, Patrick Simango, Francis Chabvi and Patrick Lunda all echoed the fact that Mtawali failed on the arsenals he picked.

Speaking on his part, Liwewe, a familiar name as far as football commentary is concerned in the country, argued that Simplex Nthala performance in goals was below par in both the two goals the team conceded in the first half.

Liwewe believes that dropped keeper, Richard Chipuwa was more better to attain the position other than Nthala.

This remark game because, Chipuwa was booted out of the Flames squad that traveled to Dar es Salaam for Nthala and Fisd Wizards shots stopper, Brighton Munthali.

“You see, one can not throw away dirty water when you don’t have clean one. It was very important for the coach to give reasons for Chipuwa’s dropping other than saying he has poor communication skills. Look at the performance by Nthala.” said Liwewe to host Frank Kandu.

On the part of whether, the Flames would overturn the tables and win at home against the Taifa boys on Sunday, commentator Simango argued that it remains doubtful and said this would be easier if the team at least savaged a goal to have a better goal aggregate when at home in the second leg.

Simango then recommended that Mtawali considers picking one of the top tier league leading goal scorers, Innocent Bokosi as a striker in the next squad.

Liwewe and all other panelists maintained that performance of one hero Gabadihno Mhango who was out of the squad for a long period due to an injury was still not worthy it.

Gaba as fondly known, came in a substitute replacing Robin Ngalande whose heroics together with Chawangwa Kaonga failed to see the Flames even score one goal.

The analysts said that the forward is still yet to gain his form after sustaining an injury and argued he needs to be given time to comeback to his form if he is to

They then asked Mtawali to consult more on his selection to have better results for the team.

The team hosts the Taifa stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

The winner will play Algeria later on.
