Paul Kagame is the president of Rwanda. The country announced a visa-free plan for all Africans visiting Rwanda, making it the latest nation on the continent to implement such a measure, aimed at promoting the free movement of people and trade. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of the African Union to remove barriers to travel, work, and live within the continent. The African Union, in 2016, introduced the African passport as a means of fostering unity and eliminating travel restrictions for Africans within their own continent. However, to date, only diplomats and AU officials have been issued the African passport. The African Union has also launched the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), estimated to be worth $3.4 trillion, aiming to create a single unified market for the continent’s 1.3 billion people and boost economic development.
