Uninspiring Nomads fire blanks against Civo

Super League giants Mighty Be Forward Wanderers were held to a goalless draw by Civo United at Kamuzu stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both Civo United and Wanderers displayed a below average performance as they were all failing to create clear cut chances that could have helped them to win the match.

The turning point of the match came when Jack Chamangwana brought on Luke Milanzi who made an impact for the Nomads as he helped them to start attacks but Civo defenders defended well.

At the other end, Civo United’s Fletcher Bandawe and Nelson Kangunje also had a couple of chances to help the club take the lead in the second half but they were all shy in front of goals.

The only notable chance of the match that could have changed the outcome of the game came in added time of the second half when Francis Mlimbika’s free kick hit the cross bar. Mlimbika’s chance also happened to be the last kick of the match.

After the game, Chamangwana said he was not happy with his team’s performance and he told all Wanderers fans t0 take heart as the team will start delivering good results in their next games.

His counterpart Milius Pofera Jegwe said he was happy with the point gained and also thanked the ‘ganyu’ supporters for showing them support.

Speaking about tomorrow’s game against Azam Tigers, Jegwe said they will take the match as a new game and they will use another system because Tigers is another big team.

He added by calling on all Civo supporters to go to the stadium in large numbers and support the team.
