Malawi President Peter Mutharika has approved the abolishment of Junior Certificate of Education ( JCE).

Information Malawi24 has at hand indicates that the abolishment is part of reforms in the education sector.

Malawi leader has approved the abolishment of JCE following request from about 45 parastatals in the country.

According to the information Mutharika has also ordered Ministry of Education Science and Technology through Malawi Examination Board ( MANEB) to stop printing the Primary School Certificate Leaving Certificate (PSCLE).

“The development is also due to frequent calls have been there that the two exams have failed in its quality and remain useless.” a source privy to Malawi24 believes.

Education sector is further experiencing a fall out of quality of Malawi School Certificate of Education ( MSCE ).

In its reform program, govt will be appraising civil servants as well. It would be total madness to let learners just cruise from form 1 to 4 without anywhere to test them.   156. ok…well i would like to see the move to abolish JCE as a slightly unwise move here although to some extent its kinda bright in terms of saving resources since our JCE paper is no longer that functional…however looking at it from a bright side side both JCE and PSLC are necessary (1) they serve to provide a check of who among students qualifies to further to the next class, the are educational sieves. (2) they provide check whether a student has undergo all stages to attain a certain job or oppotunity. (3) at far most is the important check these certificates provide…work again fraud activities…recently with the technological changes people can forge certificates in their homes…but for example if your applying for a post which requires a degree…the institution to which you apply to will ask for ur other certificates of MSCE, JCE and PSLC which will serve as references. the organisation could contact the schools where u obtain ur certificates than just having one certificate which is easy to forge. Thank You
