The Wagner Group, a Russian private military contractor, has ended its coup attempt after reaching a peace agreement with the Belarusian government.
The agreement was brokered by Belarusian President Lukashenko, who granted amnesty to Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.
The coup attempt had been brewing for months, as Prigozhin grew increasingly frustrated with the Russian government’s handling of the war in Ukraine.
However, the agreement appears to have defused the situation, and the Wagner Group has now retreated back to its bases in Belarus.
