A mobile money agent at Limbe Market has foiled an alleged K90,000 cash-out theft after she caught and handed over a suspected thief to police.
According to the woman, the suspect arrived at her sales point with two other men and asked to cash out K90,000. She processed the transaction and handed them the money while waiting for a confirmation message.
She said shortly after receiving the money, two of the men began walking away as she was in the process of calling Airtel Money customer care to verify whether the transaction had gone through.
According to the woman, the third man remained at the scene and started making calls to his friends, apparently attempting to create the impression that they were still nearby and that the three were together.
The woman, however, said she quickly realised something was wrong. She grabbed the man and firmly held onto him, preventing him from leaving before taking him towards the police.
A video circulating online captures the dramatic moments, with the woman seen holding the suspect as a group of people gathers around them.
In the footage, she is heard confronting the man while slapping him and saying, “He is not clever, ndithana naye uyuyu… tiye tidyamuke tipite ku police.”
She then continues escorting the suspect towards the police as onlookers watch the confrontation.
