Mzuzu City Council has started renovating Mzuzu Stadium ahead of the 2019 Super League season.
Speaking on Saturday, stadium supervisor Mavuto Silumbu said they want to repair the perimeter fence but so far the works have involved removing unwanted grass and replanting grass where necessary.
“After the ground work we will look also to repair perimeter fence because some places need to be repaired,” said Silumbu.
He expressed hope that the stadium will be ready for the kickoff of the 2019 Super League season.
Over the past three years, Football Association of Malawi has refused for several times to host cup finals at Mzuzu Stadium due to the condition of the pitch.
The stadium is used by Super League sides Moyale Barracks and Mzuni FC.
