Member of Parliament for Balaka North Lucius Banda will contest for the position of campaign director at the UTM convention.
The party will hold its convention on December 17 at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
On Monday, Banda shared a poster on social media expressing his interest to be UTM campaign director.
The legislator joined the newly registered party from United Democratic Front where he wanted to vie for the party’s presidency and become the UDF torchbearer for next year’s polls.
At UTM, the position of president is expected to go to Vice President of Malawi Saulos Chilima who is already being promoted as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2019 elections.
In July, Banda threw his weight behind Chilima as the right person to lead Malawi after the 2019 polls.
Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Bon Kalindo has also shown interest to contest for the position of National Youth Director at the convention.
