The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has announced that the burial ceremony for Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe of Rumphi District burial will take place on Tuesday at Bolero Rumphi.
According to spokesperson for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Muhlabase Mughogho, a church service will be held this morning at Mzuzu St Andrews church before the funeral ceremony at Bolero.
“The body of late Chikulamayembe will be taken from Mzuzu central hospital mortuary on Monday to St Andrews CCAP for players before heading to Rumphi for burial on Tuesday,” she said.
Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe, who was born Walter John Hardy Gondwe, died around 9:00pm on Thursday, 29th November at Mzuzu Central hospital.
Reports from the hospital indicate that the Chief, succumbed to low blood pressure.
Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe was born on 24th March 1932 and was installed as Traditional Authority in 1978. He is survived by a wife, 5 children and 12 grandchildren.
