Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) second deputy secretary general Salim Bagus has rejoined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Bagus who ditched MCP last week and was the party’s shadow Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Central said people from his area asked him to join the governing DPP.
The politician has since showed interest to contest in DPP primaries in the constituency.
On the issue of his behavior of changing parties, Bagus said he is only exercising his constitutional right.
Bagus joined DPP in 2016 after dumping People’s Party where he was National Organising Secretary.
Last year, he defected to the MCP and government reacted by firing him as board chairperson of Air Cargo Malawi.
