Referees in the North on Sunday elected new office bearers for Northern Region Referees Committte.
Grade one Fifa referee Misheck Juba was elected as Chairperson for the committee after beating then then incumbent Mavuto Msimuko by 10 votes to 8.
Juba is well known because he handled the 2018 Airtel Top 8 finals in which Blue Eagle beat Tnm Super League leaders Nyasa Big Bullets after Juba awarded a penalty to the Area 30 side.
Recently, he was the man in charge in a game between Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and Masters Security at Kamuzu Stadium which the Nomads won 4-0.
Speaking after the polls, General Secretary of the committee Clemence Kanduku who won unopposed said he was happy because the elections were peaceful.
“The elections went well as everyone was free to stand, we witnessed free and fair elections as there was no violence. I am sure the newly elected committee will deliver the best results on the ground,” said Kanduku.
The committee will run affairs in the region for four years.
National referees Chairperson Patrick Kapanga and Northern Region Football Association chairperson Felix Mbonekela Msiska were among those who witnessed the elections.
