Northern and Southern region youth football committees have nominated Wasauka Nyirenda for the post of executive member during the upcoming National Youth Football Committee elections.
Nyirenda who is chasing the post is currently a committee member for the northern region youth football committee. He gained a spot in the national committee after serving at district level for four years as vice president.
In an interview, he said he wants to take football beyond the game.
“Once elected I will make sure to help the young players from the age of 12 up to 20 years at least to give them what is necessary for them.
“I would like to be their mouthpiece at the national committee, and this should start from grassroots. There is a lot to do in order to bring and promote these talent. Setting up proper structures is one of the things to do,” said Nyirenda.
He added that he will work hard to make sure that some districts that wants to join FMB league are given the chance to do so.
“Let football be on top especially in primary schools and we should lay it out not only one side of the country but the whole and even in rural areas,” he said.
Nyirenda who is also a Sergeant officer in Malawi Police is a holder of Advanced Diploma in Business Management (ABE) and is currently studying Bachelor degree in Business communication fourth year at University of Malawi, The Polytechnic.
The National Youth Football Committee will hold its Annual general meeting on 26th November 2016 in Lilongwe where among other things office bearers will be elected.
