Two Members of Parliament (MPs) in the country, Lucius Banda and Bon Kalindo, have suggested solutions to the senseless killings of people with albinism.

The MPs have provided their suggestions following the increase in cases of albino killings.

Banda said Malawians have exhausted all means of tracking down the attackers in these killings but with no success.

He then suggested that the Malawi Government should ask the general public to provide information which would lead to the arrest of people involved in these barbaric killings.

He said government for example should offer a reward of 2 million Kwacha the information, saying the perpetrators are motivated by money.

“We have condemned, marched, discussed, posted on social networks, sang, poems, drama etc against Albino killings, nothing stop it……I thought we can suggest other ways unlikely but may be they can help, I suggest Government should offer say K2 million to anyone with information that would lead to the arrest of any person involved in this,” said Banda On Thursday.

Kalindo, joined Banda’s chorus saying government should bring in the Malawi Defence Force to help Malawi police service in tracking down the albino attackers. He said the attacks on albino are very serious and government should declare war on the killers.

He then threatened to walk out of Parliament if his fellow MPs will do nothing to find lasting solutions.

He added that MPs who are doing nothing to stop the attacks are part of the problem.

Malawi has recorded 17 deaths of people with albinism, but recent reports in the media show that the number has risen to about 20.
