After a long standing dilemma over what team will replace Chirumba Barracks which pulled out of the race at the eleventh hour due to financial woes, the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has made recommendations that Karonga United replace the military side.
Karonga United finished second after Chirumba in the Northern region Simama league.
Weeks ahead of the start o the league, Chrumba had announced that due to monetary problems, they would not take part a development which placed authorities in dilemma over the next team which would replace it to complete the list in Malawi’s elite league.
The Simma rules according to Chairperson Lameck Khonje allows that a second placed team should replaced a top one if it fails to play in the league and a subsequent one as well.
Karonga United once played in the league in the 2013-2014 before they got relegated.
The move completes the list of team to six after Wizards F.C hit out the controversies of the play offs to be confirmed as another entry.
