The wait is over and its time for the battles on the field of play to actually start again in Malawi’s top tier league 2016/17 campaign-which starts today.

While there have been numerous concerns about the other two teams to make the number of teams complete in the league, officials at the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) maintain everything is intact and that the battles are starting today after the previous campaign last year.

As we speak it is not known about the 16th team to join the league from those belittled and cloudy playoffs much as it is not known yet on what team will replace Chilumba Barracks which withdrew at more or less the eleventh hour due to ‘huge’ financial constraints that hit the military outfit.

Apparently the other games kick off today as also a scare about Club Licensing hit the clubs.

Sulom says the other problems about the other teams to joing the league will be sorted ‘as soon as possible’

Today, holders Nyasa Big Bullets start their title defence against Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium. Last time the two sides met at Kamuzu Stadium Bullets won 3-1.

while Kamuzu Barracks play host to Civo Service United at Civo Stadium  with Mafco FC playing Mzuni FC at Chitowe Stadium.

And tomorrow Red Lions rock hornswith EPAC FC at Balaka Stadium as Silver Strikers will be hosting Mighty Be Forward Wanderers at Silver Stadium.

At the same time, Azam Tigers will play rookies Max Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium while the other rookies Dwangwa United start the league life with Blue Eagles at Chitowe Stadium.

Its time and let the battles begin. ‘No hooliganism’.
