Chakwera ‘not scared’ of convention

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) says Lazarus Chakwera and the party’s leadership are not scared of the order the High Court gave the party to hold a convention within 90 days .

The party’s spokesperson Jessie Kabwila said the party knows how serious the issue is and that Malawians are eager to see if MCP is law abiding.

She claimed that MCP will show  that it is a law abiding party by doing what the law says. Kabwila also disclosed that the party will meet its legal team to discuss the court ruling.

“We will communicate to Malawians after we have a meeting with our lawyers to see the way forward,” said Kabwila.

Two weeks ago, the High Court in Lilongwe gave the party 90 days to hold a convention so that it resolves problems facing the party.

The ruling followed an application by some members of the party who claimed to be tired of the party’s leadership and its failure to solve wrangles within the party
