Malawi President Peter Mutharika has challenged that he will never bow down to the demands of leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera to appear in the national assembly for questioning.

During the recent Parliamentary session, Chakwera said he could not ask questions to government ministers arguing that his questions were to be answered by the head of state.

“I demand that the president should come in Parliament to answer questions because he is part of us, we do have government ministers all the times but this time we needed him to answer questions” said Chakwera.

However, speaking at the official launch of Buy Malawi Strategy, Mutharika said he will never go to Parliament to answer questions from opposition members of Parliament.

“They want to put Presidential powers on scale, I cannot appear in parliament because of someone, they were defeated they should wait for 2019,” said Mutharika.

The opposition have been grabbing the government by neck to explain on issues that are affecting the country including on the shortage of maize in Admarc depots across the country.
