Lazarus Chakwera’s position as Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president has come under further scrutiny as the party’s officials have intensified efforts to remove him.
Following an application by some members of the MCP, the High Court in Lilongwe has ordered the party to hold a convention in the next 90 days.
The members sought the court’s intervention after getting tired of the party’s leadership and its failure to solve wrangles within the party.
However, MCP spokesperson Jessie claims she is yet to be informed about the court order.
But lawyer for the disgruntled MCP officials insisted that they the court has granted them the order.
