He has gained fame on the social media lately over his ‘funny name’ but now he shares his sentiments on matters to do with homosexuality in Malawi saying if legalized, the country’s peace will be disturbed.

Senior Chief Ngolongoliwa of Thyolo has joined hands with people who are against the legalization of gay marriages.

The newly elevated Lhomwe Senior Chief told Malawi24 in Blantyre in an interview that Malawi should not condone same-sex marriages saying they are evil acts that will destabilize the nation.

Ngolongoliwa’s remarks come hot on the heels of calls from some sectors including donors for Malawi to legalise homosexuality acts.

According to senior Chief Ngolongoliwa, Malawians should refrain from accepting everything brought by westerners.

He among other things said Malawi’s poverty should not be taken for granted and said that some of the funds that westerners offer have some strings attached, one of it being legalisation of same-sex marriages.

Recently, President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim speaking at the Economist’s Pride and Prejudice conference in London revealed that Malawi and other developing nations are likely to be sidelined from World Bank funding in projects that could end up harming gay people.

Up to now the country’s Penal Code prohibits carnal knowledge against the order of nature, attempts to commit carnal knowledge against the order of nature, and acts of gross indecency.
