Two women caught stealing beer at Chipiku

Two women have been arrested after they were caught stealing beer from a Chipiku shop in Lilongwe.

According to a source, the women have been stealing items from the shop on several occasions but they have been getting away with it.

However, when the two entered the retail shop on Monday, workers recognised them and used the facility’s CCTV to monitor their movements.

The women packed some beers and wine in their handbags and at the till they only paid for some small items. After they had paid, they confidently stepped out of the shop and started walking towards their car but a security officer for the shop pounced on them.

Chipiku workers then recovered the stolen items and the women were detained at the shop where management ordered them to pay K700,000.
