arrestedMalawi’s immigration department has netted eight foreigners who entered the country using fake traveling documents.

Immigration department deputy spokesperson, Willington Chiponde said the eight foreigners who were also staying in the country illegally were arrested on Tuesday in Blantyre.

According to Chiponde, four of the foreigners are from India, two are from Britain and the other two are from Pakistan.

Chiponde said some of the foreigners were working in different companies while others were doing businesses in the commercial city.

He said the department knew about the foreigners after tips from members of the general public.

However, the deputy spokesperson said the foreigners are currently being kept in custody at Blantyre police as the country does not have enough resources to send them back to their homes.
