Player of the people, Joseph Kamwendo has engaged an extra gear in resurrecting his form as he prepares to reclaim his Malawi national football jersey.
Kamwendo, who is currently in the country for end of the season holiday, last wore national colours in June last year during Malawi’s 2-1 home loss to Zimbabwe in the AFCON qualifiers.
The TP Mazembe midfielder currently on loan at another Democratic Republic of Congo side, Don Bosco, recently told the media that he is available anytime the coach needs him.
“I am a Malawian and what do you expect? Anytime I am called for national duty, am available,” said the left footed soccer star.
Shakira, as he is popularly known, was left out in the national team squad which faced Tanzania in the preliminary stages of 2018 World Cup qualifiers. His absence was felt when Malawi failed to proceed to the next level of qualifiers.
The once Flames ‘wonder kid’ also talked about the importance of mixing experienced players with newcomers. He cited the midfield maestro Robert Ng’ambi as one of the players whose services are being missed.
The ex-Wanderers playmaker assured Malawians that he has more years to play football even though most local football fanatics have counted him out.
