The goal came when Thapelo Morena and Lerato Lamola combined well and set up the former Big Bullets striker from 16 yards and Gaba scored with a first time shot past Jaakkola.

Celtic kept up the pressure and nearly went two clear five minutes after the first goal as Vusi Shikweni shot wide before Morena had a goal disallowed for offside.

35 minutes into the first half, Gaba was again called into action and could have doubled the visitors lead after he was put through on goal with a good pass that turned the Ajax defenders around but Gaba blasted his shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Just after the hour mark, Ajax were back into the match when Toriq Losper cancelled out Gaba’s first half opener to make it 1-1.

The Malawi international was substituted on 72 minutes and the match ended 2-2 after Thapelo Morena’s second half strike for Celtic was cancelled out by Paulse’s penalty in the final minute of the game.
