Malawi Police in Balaka district have arrested two people for allegedly robbing a vehicle in Blantyre city.
The suspects Brian Karim 35, and Evance Zonzi 36 were arrested at Phalula after Police erected an ad-hock road block following a tip off.
According to Detective Sergeant Paul Kapumila of Phalula Police Unit who was on duty, Police received information that a vehicle Nissan Tidia registration number IT 2891 was stolen in Blantyre, and they immediately erected an ad-hock road block.
“In the course of searching, we came across a vehicle of the same make and colour, and upon searching it, we found that the registration number which was on the vehicle MN 3242 was not the real number of the vehicle as the vehicle documents were depicting that of the vehicle IT 2891 which was stolen in Blantyre”, explained Kapumila.
After noticing this, they arrested the occupants Brian Karim who identified himself as Gift Paul Banda and Evance Zonzi.
Meanwhile, the suspects have been handed over to Police Anti-motor vehicle section Blantyre for further investigations.
Gift Paul Banda who is commonly known as Brian Karim comes from Kalonga village, Traditional Authority Maganga in Salima district while Evance Zonzi comes from Kasepu village, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district
