Market fires, order of the day.

Official findings indicate that goods worth over 200 million Malawi Kwacha were consumed by fire that razed down Mzimba matabwa market during the week.

Mzimba District commissioner Thomas Chirwa revealed this in an interview with Malawi24 on Friday afternoon.

Chirwa said the fire has affected about 200 vendors at the market, among them being some who lost their goods in another fire that gutted the same market recently.

He however expressed ignorance on the possible cause of the fire. When Malawi24 visited the market we heard varying views from vendors on the possible cause of the fire .

While some thought it was due to Mbaula, some suspected fellow vendors who have lost capital for their businesses to be behind the tragedy.

This accident happened just after another mysterious fire had razed down Mzuzu main market.
