Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima has left Malawi this morning for the United States of America.
Chilima left the country through the Kamuzu International Airport.
According to Special Assistant to the Vice President on Economic Affairs Milward Tobias, Chilima has travelled to America for private engagements.
At KIA, Chilima was seen off by UTM members including Secretary General Patricia Kaliati and Salima North-West MP Jessie Kabwila.
The Vice President is expected arrives back home on 24th January through Kamuzu International Airport.
Chilima dumped the governing Democratic Progressive Party in June last year and formed UTM. He is one of 11 other presidential aspirants seeking to dislodge President Peter Mutharika in the May 21 elections.
Since dumping the ruling DPP, Chilima has made trips to the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
In November last year, government complained that Chilima goes on foreign trips without informing the Mutharika administration hence he does not represent the president during the international engagements.
