Nyasa Big Bullets have fired their head coach Rodgers Yasin and his deputy Eliya Kananji following the team’s 4-3 defeat to Masters Security in the semifinals of the Carlsberg Cup.
According to information sourced by Malawi24, the decision to have the duo fired was reached on Monday during an emergency meeting at Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) offices in Blantyre.
It is believed that Yasin and Kananji were sitting on a ticking bomb before Saturday’s defeat.
It has also been reported that despite the team sitting comfortably at the top of the standings in the league, management wasn’t satisfied with Bullets’ performance in the cup competitions which saw them losing 1-0 to Blue Eagles in the finals of the Airtel Cup before Saturday’s exit in the Carlsberg Cup.
The team’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Fleetwood Haiya confirmed the development but he was quick to say more information will be made available to the media during a press briefing.
The 13-time Super League champions targeted at least two cup competitions before the start of the ongoing season but that dream ended on Saturday when impressive Masters Security booted them out of Carlsberg Cup.
