Newly promoted Super League side, Chitipa United, has appointed former Mzuni FC gaffer Alex Ngwira as head coach.
General Secretary (GS) for the 2018 SIMSO Premier Division League champions, Pickford Kamanga, confirmed the development in an interview with Malawi24 on Monday evening.
According to Kamanga, the club’s executive committee agreed the decision to offer Ngwira a one year contract following a meeting yesterday but he did not reveal more saying the paperwork is not yet done.
“Yes I can confirm that indeed he has signed a one year deal with us but on issue of when he is starting the job we will have to inform you once all the paper work is done but currently I can say that we have agreed terms,” he said.
Kamanga added that Ngwira who got sacked at Mzuni due to the poor performance will be deputised by Robert Mzinza who helped the Chitipa district based side to return to the top tier a season after being demoted.
However, the GS has said that despite that both two coaches have agreed terms with club but they are yet to officially append their signatures to their respective contracts.
Both coaches were not available for comment as we went to press.
