The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar), Natural Resources College (NRC) campus has distanced itself from an advert being shared on social media.

Social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp have been awash with an advert that is claiming that NRC in conjunction with World Relief and Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust will offer a full scholarship to 650 successful students to study in areas such as disaster risk management, forestry and agriculture and food security.

But NRC has refuted the advert saying the college does not offer any programmes mentioned in the announcement and there is no such scholarship being offered by the college.

“The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar), would like to inform the general public that an advertisement circulating on social media (WhatsApp, Facebook etc) about the trainings opportunity that has risen in conjunction with World Relief and Malawi Liverpool at ccampus is false.

“The public should note that NRC Campus does not offer trainings in the programmes mentioned in the advertisement and there is no such scholarship being offered,” reads the statement signed by campus registrar.

The college has warned applicants that it will not be responsible for anything that will happen due to the fake advert.

“Therefore, the University will not be held liable for any transactions that may take place with regards to this bogus offer,” the statement says.
