Ever since he wrote his name in the top flight folklore as one of the deadliest strikers, Richard Mbulu is yet to score against just one team, and that is Nyasa Big Bullets.
The current TNM Super League leading goal scorer is a thorn in the flesh to almost each and every team in the top flight apart from the defending league champions who are yet to succumb to his goal scoring skills.
In all the attempts, the highly skilled lethal forward has never tasted how sweet it is to score past Bullets, a team with the best defence for the past three seasons.
In 2014, Bullets and Mafco met twice in the league and the forward was not on the score sheet despite the media hype prior to the games.
In 2015, this time in the Carlsberg Cup, Mbulu had more than eight clear chances against Bullets but he failed to score one and as if that was not enough, he missed the decisive penalty to send Bullets into the semi-finals of the cup.
In the same year, Bullets collected six points from the Soldiers in the super league with Mbulu nowhere near the scoring chat.
And in the ongoing season, the two teams drew 2-all at Chitowe, with Mbulu missing more than six clear cut chances in that match and three days ago, he was tightly marked during Mafco’s 2-nil defeat in the hands of the champions.
In the ongoing season, Mbulu has scored past any shot-stopper apart from Ernest Kakhobwe who denied him twice when every supporter thought the ball was inside the net.
Despite all this, the 22 year old forward has got all the chances to claim the golden boot award as he is on 19 goals with less than five games to play, seconded by Peter Wadabwa of Be Forward Wanderers and Chiukepo Msowoya of Bullets.
