Senior Chief Malemia of Nsanje has hailed President Peter Mutharika for ordering the arrest of Erick Aniva who sexually abused young women in Nsanje.
This comes after Aniva confessed to both local and international media that he has been having sex with young girls and women who lost their husbands as part of cultural practices in his area.
Senior Chief Malemia district said the move will help in cultivating good future leaders.
“I applaud Mutharika for ordering the arrest of Aniva who was a threat to the future of most girls in the district,” said Senior Chief Malemia.
He added that the man is evil hence the need for him to be behind bars and the future leaders will safe.
Mutharika ordered the arrest of Aniva on Tuesday arguing that harmful cultural practices tarnish the image of the country and bring shame to Malawians.
He added that the most shocking thing on these abuses is that they are reportedly done with the full knowledge and support of some parents who ironically are supposed to be the guardians of the innocent children and the girls.
The Malawi leader then warned those who are continuing with the malpractice that if they don’t stop they will face the long arm of the law.
