Man commits suicide after finding his wife sleeping with her dad

A man in Machinga district has hanged himself to death after learning that his wife was having sex with her step-father, the man’s father in-law.

The man, Rajab Black, committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree after getting disillusioned by reports that his wife was sleeping with his father in-law.

According to Machinga Police Public Relations Officer Davie Sulumba, the deceased married a stepdaughter of Mr Mbosongwe and later on he began to hear reports that his father in-law was going out with his wife.

“This confused the deceased and on 17th July, 2016 he went missing. His body was later on found hanging from a tree but in a decomposed state,” Sulumba said.

He added that Black left a suicide note in which he urged his father in-law to continue his relationship with the woman.

A medical report revealed that the death was caused due to strangulation.

Death hangingMeanwhile, Police in Machinga are advising the members of the community to report misunderstandings to police victim support unit rather than killing themselves.

Black hailed from Nkhuna village, Traditional Authority Liwonde in Machinga district.

In a related development, a man identified as James Butao has committed suicide by hanging in Nkhotakota district.

Nkhotakota Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda said the incident happened during the night of 20-21 July at Phamphala village, Traditional Authority Mwadzama in the district.

Kaponda said on Thursday morning the deceased’s body was found inside the house hanging from a beam in one of the bedrooms.

He added that relatives of the man found urine around the place of hanging and a rubber (mphira) tied to the beam on one end and around the deceased’s neck on the other end.

“There were also blue marks around the neck with no fracture cut or any abnormity of the whole body as per medical officer who examined the corpse,” Kaponda added.

In the man’s pockets, the police found two boxes of matches, K600 and chingambwe.

Butao hailed from Phamphala village, Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota district.
