He says he was just saying it as a joke but surely no person in his right mind would make a rude joke to a person with albinism at a time that their living is as scary as it is precarious.
Police in Mzuzu city are keeping in custody 35 year-old Brino Nanthenga for insulting a woman with albinism.
According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu police Cecilia Mfune, the woman on 10th July 2016 was going to Zigwagwa market in the city of Mzuzu to buy oranges.
As she was passing by Brino, the suspect started insulting her with a loud voice saying she is worthy millions. People tried to stop him but he continued by saying the woman represents a lot of money.
This made the woman to report the matter to police and the suspect was arrested.
He will appear in court soon to answer the charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace contrary to section 182 of the penal code. The suspect hails from Nyambalo village Traditional Authority Khumba in Phalombe District.
