Karonga United have earned their first win of the 2016 Tnm super league season after upsetting Nyasa Big Bullets as they registered a 1 nil victory over the Blantyre giant on Sunday afternoon at Mzuzu stadium in Mzuzu.

Hygiene Mwendepeka scored the only goal of the match in the dying minutes of the match to help the Karonga based side to move to position 14 on the log table with 6 points from nine games.

Before the win, Karonga United had been in search for their first win of the season in eight matches.

The Karonga based side performed exceptionally well in all their eight games but luck was not on their side until yesterday when they stunned the 2015 Tnm super league champions.

The result sees Karonga United moving up to 14th on the log with 6 points from 9 games while Bullets are stuck on 10th position with 12 points from 7 games.

The Karonga United win will surely boost the morale in the Karonga camp and will gear them up for their next tough away assignment when they will be battling against Blue Eagles who will be looking to return to position one on the log, whereas Nyasa Big Bullets will be taking on Wizards at Kamuzu stadium.

At Chitowe stadium, Mzuni fc beat Dwangwa United 2-1 to move to position four on the log table with goals from Kadawasi Smith and Lackson Sangano whereas Dwangwa scored their consolation goal through Jack Chiona. While Wizards were held to a goalless against Azam Tigers at Kamuzu stadium.

In another game played at Civo stadium in Lilongwe, Epac fc were beaten 5-3 by Moyale Barracks in a game that produced 2 hat tricks as Anthony Banda and Gastin Simkonda bagged in 3 goals each.

The Mzuzu based soldiers won courtesy of 3 goals from Simkonda and a goal each from Mtopijo Njerwa and Crispin Fukizi whereas Anthony Banda scored all the goals for Epac fc.

In other games played on Saturday, Peter Wadabwa was the hero for Be forward Wanderers after scoring a brace to help the Nomads beat Red Lions 3-1 at Kamuzu stadium in a game Ernest Tambe was a marvel to watch.

At Silver stadium Moyale Barracks were beaten 3-1 by the hosts, Silver Strikers, whereas Blue Eagles were held to a 1 all draw by Mzuni FC at Nankhaka stadium in Lilongwe.
