Police in Blantyre have arrested seven men suspected to have stolen items at College of Medicine (CoM), a constituent college of University of Malawi (UNIMA).
Earlier this month thugs invaded the college campus and went away with property worth millions of Kwacha.
Following the development, Police launched a manhunt that has led to the arrest of the seven whose names have been withheld by the cops.
Confirming to Malawi24, Blantyre Police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala said the seven suspects were arrested in Blantyre and Lilongwe as they were trying to sell the stolen items.
“Blantyre Police have since recovered five sets of HP computers, mixer, one dell monitor, computer cables, two computer batteries, five laptop computers, four iPads phones, fourteen assorted cell phones, five TNM dongles, LCD screen, four computer chargers, two external hard drive and one steel scope,” said Divala.
Divala further said that one of the suspects was found with a piston rifle which had 98 live ammunitions.
The suspects are yet to appear in court to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony therein contrary to section 311 of the penal code.
