Thieves this morning stormed a branch of Opportunity International Bank of Malawi in Area 25 and went away with millions of money.
Kanengo Police spokesperson Ester Mkwanda confirmed the heist but said the bank is yet to ascertain the exact amount of money that have been stolen.
However, sources says the robbers got away with K15 million.
The criminals, who were armed with rifles and crowbars, attacked the guards belonging to G4S before gaining entry into the bank.
Once inside, they forced open the door leading to the vault where they broke a big cash chest and stole cash amounting to K15 million.
According to the source, the criminals would have stolen K11 million more but they left quickly because a G4S Response Team arrived at the crime scene.
Police say they are yet to arrest any suspect but investigations are underway.
