It seems workers at the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) have now started working after years of slumbering as they have suspended yet another company.

Yesterday MBS officials suspended operations at Lilongwe Bakers Pride due to non-compliance to conditions.

The suspension of the bakery comes after the bakery failed to comply with hygienic conditions which are stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21, which is the bureau’s code of hygienic conditions.

MBS says that the Bakers Pride section which has been closed in Lilongwe is the Bakers Pride (New) Bakery which produces bread and buns.

“The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) wishes to inform the general public that it has suspended operations of Bakers Pride (New) Bakery (bread and Bun) located in Area 3, behind Lilongwe Post Office due to noncompliance to hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21; (Food and Food Processing Units – Code of Hygienic Conditions). The suspension is effective 15th March, 2016,” reads a post on MBS Facebook page.

Recently, MBS also cracked the whip on a Chibuku plant in Lilongwe and Superior Food Market in Blantyre after they failed to comply with hygienic conditions.
