Vocal Member of Parliament for Mulanje South, Bon Kalindo says President Peter Mutharika inherited the hardships which the country is currently facing.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Kalindo said the challenges the Mutharika administration is failing to solve were created during former President Joyce Banda’s era.

“The problems Malawi is facing were not created by the current Malawi leader but they started some time back before Mutharika ascended into power,” he said.

Kalindo cited the hunger crisis which he claimed did not start while Mutharika was already in power but found it when he took over in 2014.

Speaking about the donors who were helping Malawi but later suspended their aid, Kalindo said that the donors stopped pumping in aid into Malawi after it was revealed that some people were stealing money from government coffers.

Currently, Malawi is facing an economic crisis and a lot of Malawians are sleeping on long queues at ADMARC depots waiting to buy the staple grain.

Recently, government claimed that it has has empowered ADMARC to procure a large consignment of 50,000 metric tons of maize from Tanzania.
