The Malawi national football team have climbed up by two places to 104 in the World and 28 in Africa in the latest official FIFA rankings for February 2016.

The Enerst Mtawali’s charges have slowly moved up the latest FIFA rankings ladder despite not playing matches since the Cecafa tournament last November.

The team was out of action since losing 2-0 to Uganda in the quarter-finals of the Cecafa cup.

The Flames are also not part of the teams at Chan tournament in Rwanda. Malawi will face Equatorial Guinea next month in a crucial 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers away from home before hosting their opponents four days later.

Belgium remains World’s best seconded by Argentina with Spain and Germany coming third and fourth respectively.

Ivory Coast are the highest ranked African team in 28 position, with Cape Verde Islands, Algeria and Ghana the next highest in 33rd, 36th and 41st place respectively.
