Rappers, Gwamba and Slessor were involved in a social media spat last week and the latter has addressed the squabble.

The Blantyre based Slessor has been using social media to promote his latest album titled “Nkhani Za ku Malawi” besides using other media platforms.

This did not seem to please the Lilongwe based Gwamba who fired provocative shots at the brains behind the hit song, Phwando la lero on Monday last week.

In a post Twitter, Gwamba expressed displeasure over artists who brag about their music success on social media.

His words were directed to none other than the MIJ FM presenter who spat venom in retaliation. In a post of his own, Slessor said Gwamba has to focus on his relationship with God first, taking into consideration his current status as a born again Christian.

If he continues then it will signal that he is not yet done with secular music. Slessor was referring to Gwamba’s decision to quit secular music for gospel at the beginning of this year.

The award winning artist is believed to have made the decision due to influence from his brother in-law, the controversial prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

Since the announcement, nothing artistic has been linked to his name. However, in an interview with a local radio over the weekend, Slessor laid down rivalry claims, arguing they are not at loggerheads.

He admitted getting involved into a verbal war with the born again rapper but he said he was only acting in response.

The Blantyre based artist dropped a 15 track album on New Year’s Day.

It includes songs such as Nkhani za ku Malawi, Mbiri and Chikondi which features Sangie.

He considers this as one of his main achievements as he has concluded the whole project devoid of support from any record label.
