Malawi super league side Mighty Wanderers assistant team manager Steve Madeira says their sponsors, Be Forward, are happy with the way the club’s executive managed the financial resources that the Japanese car dealer gave them.

He said Be Forward is happy that the Nomads officials did not spend the money on unnecessary things and were accountable in their transactions.

“The sponsors respect our high integrity because despite changing overnight from rags to riches we did not get excited and start plundering the resources as some might have. “We made sure every penny was put to its intended use and accounted for. Off the pitch we have set up sound structures which they are happy with,” said Madeira.

The Nomads are looking to sign another contract with the Japanese car dealer as the contract they signed with their sponsors last season came to an end on 31 December 2015. Madeira also urged the Nomads family that they should not panic as they will make an announcement on the new sponsorship deal soon since the talks have been positive. Madeira further said that the sponsors are also happy with the way the team has performed on the pitch as the Nomads finished in the paying ranks in all competitions.

“Getting to two finals and finishing the league in the paid rank is a big leap from where the team was in the year 2014,” he said.

He added that the club is also in the process of finding land so that they should construct their own stadium.

Wanderers finished the 2015 Super League season on position 4. Among other achievements, the team was crowned as Carlsberg Cup champions and also finished as runners up in the 2015 Standard Bank knockout cup.
